The Dos & Don'ts of Shaving

Academy of Country Music red carpet highlights

We're about to kick of summer, and as hemlines get shorter, everyone wants their legs looking beautiful, silky and smooth. Well, help has arrived! We gathered all of YOUR shaving questions- how often, which direction, how to avoid ingrown hairs- and took them to a dermatologist for the answers.

Dermatologist Dr. Jeannette Graf came by our studio to answer YOUR questions about shaving. How often should you shave? Can you shave on dry skin? Should you shave in the direction of your hair growth or against it to get the best result?

In some cases Dr. Graf can offer us all the same advice- never shave on dry skin, always use a moisturizer post shave- but other circumstances are more subjective. If you have coarser hair and shave more than once a day, you might have to replace your razor more often than once a month, for example. If not, a month is probably a good estimate.

As Dr. Graf notes, starting with a good razor in the first place is key to a silky smooth result. We love Venus Embrace because it has five blades plus a built in ribbon of moisture.

If we didn't get to your question, post it on our Facebook page or send us an email and we'll be sure to get an answer for you.
