The Thread talks pint-sized fashion with Kelly Stables, star of "The Exes"

You probably know her best as Melissa on “Two and a Half Men,” but on Nov. 30 the adorable Kelly Stables stars on TV Land’s “The Exes,” a new sitcom about three divorced guys living together in an apartment across from their divorce attorney (Kristen Johnston). Sounds crazy, right? But crazy in a funny way. Stables plays Eden, Kristen’s plucky assistant who tries to show the divorcés how to enjoy life and plunge back into the dating game. See what Kelly has to say about Eden’s penchant for high hemlines (and low necklines) and the best place for a girl with size 4 feet to find platform heels.

Am I imagining it or would Eden and Melissa, your character on "Two and a Half Men," probably have a lot to talk about?

Melissa was more ready to settle down and Eden is not, but there’s the same bubbliness. You know, I became a cheerleader when I was 14 and I can’t get out of my pom-poms! First of all, I haven’t grown any since then. I’m 4’11. I really can fit into my cheerleading outfit. Maybe that’s too much information?

Ha. Well, Eden's not exactly parading around in cheerleading uniforms— but she certainly could. How would you describe her style?

Just go to Bebe and look at anything there. That’s where they get most of my wardrobe. She’s not a modest girl. It’s always a party for her. Even at work she may show a little bit more skin so that if she wants to go out after work she’s ready.

How much input do you have on Eden's wardrobe?

A lot. That’s why it’s fun to start a show from a pilot. Everyone gets to contribute. I come at it from a character standpoint. I’ll say, “I don’t know if this is something Eden would wear…” Even down to the fingernails. I’ll think, “What would my character have?” Melissa usually had hot pink. Eden changes it up to match her outfits. I played a serial killer once and I had red nails with a black stripe down the middle.

You can get away with wearing anything, but how does Eden's look compare to your personal style?

I’m a blue jeans and T-shirts girl. I love Fidelity and Joe’s Jeans and Paige Denim. I just got rid of some, and I still have like 26 pairs. For shirts it’s anything soft and cottony, like Splendid. My other favorite thing is a sundress. A sundress and a pair of boots. And I get a lot of my sundresses from Target.

I have a theory that women are either shoe girls or bag girls. Which one are you?

Shoes for sure. I love my high heels, and I get them all from Nordstrom because they carry a women’s size 4. Michael Kors—I want to kiss that man!
