5 Ways for Single Girls to Celebrate Valentine's Day

Even if you're single (And if you've forgotten how awesome that is, here's a little reminder.) February 14th is a good day to be a chick. That's because you can get away with these decadent, pampering, self-indulgent little moves.

1. Browse Bargain Stores

A recent study found that women between the age of 20 and 40 get enjoyment out of shopping for a dress, shoes, or a bag on sale. Snagging a deal gives chicks such a thrill, in fact, that it can raise their heart rate by 39%. Hit up stores with marked down designer goods like Marshalls, T.J. Maxx, and Filene's Basement, and give yourself a budget of $30-$40. The challenge of finding cute cheapo items is extra satisfying and it'll get your pulse racing, literally. Not sure what to buy? 2. Have a Sunday Fun-Day

Valentine's Day falls on a weekend this year, which means that you can actually spend the holiday having fun, rather than sitting at work doing the will-I-or-won't-I-get-flowers wait. Here's how to break even more of these "good girl" V-Day moves. Grab brunch and mimosas with friends, since even the attached ones will most likely only have dinner plans with their significant others. Then restaurant/bar/house/apartment hop for the rest of the morning and afternoon. Treating Sunday like Saturday will make the end of the weekend - and the start of the week - way less miserable.

3. Give Yourself a Red-Hot Mani/Pedi

There's a reason traffic lights and stop signs are bright red. The color, well, stops traffic. Amp up your look by painting your nails with a scarlet polish. Yes, dark manicures can be hard to master, but there's no need to drop cash on a professional. Just follow these tips: use a base coat to avoid staining. And when applying the red, start at the center of the nail so that the excess paint will slide onto your nail and not the cuticle. Make sure to do your toes, too. Feet get neglected in the wintertime and a pedi will make you feel totally pampered. But don't stop there, try one of these pampering beauty moves.

4. Go to a Swanky Restaurant...for Dessert

Pass on the flower arrangements made out of lollipops and heart-shaped chocolates, which are so not worth the calories. Instead, go to a super fancy restaurant with some single girlfriends- and look sexy as hell- and treat yourself to lava cake, crème brûlée, or ice cream injected cupcakes. You can soak up the luxe atmosphere, enjoy awesome service, and eat top of the line treats since desserts at even four-star joints won't set you back too much. (The Four Seasons restaurants, for example, have outrageously over the top sweet dishes for $15.)

5. Sleep Sans Pajamas

February weather usually means wearing sweats to bed. But experts say that you can become desensitized to your own flesh if you're clothed all the time. And since you can't exactly go to brunch or the mall in your birthday suit, sleeping is the perfect opportunity to get in some naked time. So throw an extra blanket on your bed, strip down, and actually enjoy the feeling of those high thread count sheets you splurged on. If this makes you feel a little naughty, you'll know why we have a major girl crush on these celebs.
