Google announced that it is bringing textbooks to the Google Play store for students to purchase and rent for their Android devices and for reading on the web. The company has partnered with five major textbook publishers and says it will offer a comprehensive selection. The books are expected to rent and sell for an 80 percent discount compared to regular retail prices and will launch in August.
After a string of leaks and rumors that culminated with Best Buy prematurely putting up pre-order pages, Google has finally made its second-generation Nexus 7 tablet official. Google said that the new Nexus 7 tablet is 2 millimeters thinner than the first version, and it's also a bit narrower and 50 grams lighter, making it more comfortable to hold.
Though it is the iPad that gets all the attention, Google?s Sundar Pichai said that Android is now running on half of the tablets being sold, with over 70 million Android tablets having been activated.
