If you (and the kids) need a break from the non-stop sightseeing and bustling city life on your trip to the UK, have no fear. There is so much for families to see and do in England. Make time for some of these kid-friendly activities while you're traveling, and everyone will be much happier.

National Railway Museum

The National Railway Museum in York is the perfect kid-friendly activity to cap off a day in this beautiful and historic city. There are more than trains at the museum, which hosts story time, science experiences, and a variety of other family-friendly activities throughout the calendar year. Best of all? Entry to the museum is free for the whole family.

Bristol Zoo Gardens

Some of the most enjoyable outings we had with our children while traveling in the UK were zoo trips. One such zoo, the Bristol Zoo Gardens, is located near the coast and can be reached by car or by train. Spend the day outside with the kids, get a peek at some animals from above on Zooropia, have a picnic lunch, and enjoy some British sunshine when it arrives! For a smaller, less expensive, or indoor animal experience, try Tropical World in Leeds, instead.

Legoland UK

Legoland UK, located in Windsor just outside of London, is the perfect family-friendly activity in England. Children of all ages will enjoy the theme park. It's the perfect break from sightseeing and bustling London, and easily reached by train. Legoland might seem like an expensive day trip, but you'll actually save money by staying at the resort and purchasing a ticket for more than one day. Consider a weekend at the park and resume your sightseeing on Monday.

Bolton Abbey & Hesketh Farm Park

Bolton Abbey and Hesketh Farm Park are located within walking distance of one another in the city of Wharfedale. Both are relatively inexpensive and can keep you entertained for an entire day. Pack a picnic lunch. If you're traveling in Yorkshire with your family, make time some time to explore the abbey ruins, cross the stream on a bridge or stones, or let the kids pet the animals at the farm park. If you want, have dinner or tea at a nearby pub or tea room to round out this fun, family-friendly day. The drive through the Yorkshire Dales National Park is beautiful-don't forget your camera!

Cadbury World

Does a day filled with chocolate sound like something that would appeal to your kids? Visitors and locals alike will love Cadbury World, located in Bournville in Birmingham. Take the car on a day trip, or relax on the 2 hour train ride from London. There are regularly reduced entry fees or coupon deals, so do your research before you depart. Learn how Cadbury chocolate is made, ride a few rides, shop, and let the kids enjoy a large African safari themed play area.

Keeping the kids entertained on your travels throughout England can help guarantee that the entire family has a wonderful and memorable trip to the UK.
