While the World Health Organization's announcement this week that cell phones are a possible carcinogen surely had some thinking about linking up landlines, it had us thinking back to the ways we used to communicate before the advent of the iPhone. After all, who doesn't yearn (even just a little bit) for the simple thrill of a handwritten letter in the mail, the nervous anticipation of the blinking light on an answering machine, spritzing a postcard with your signature scent before tossing it in the mailbox of some faraway land?
