Gwyneth Paltrow's Advice for Home Cooks

By Bon Appétit

Gwyneth Paltrow is on the cover of our June issue and inside she offers some sound advice for home chefs. Despite her glitzy status as an actress, singer, and cookbook author, Paltrow is fairly laid-back when it comes to the culinary arts. In fact, the only request she made during the shoot was that it wrap by 3:00 p.m. so she could pick up her kids from school. "I'm not going to be doing molecular gastronomy; I'm a wife and a mom and a home cook," she says.

The mother of 2 and wife to Coldplay rocker Chris Martin (who breezed through the kitchen of their London townhouse after his morning workout to make a smoothie in the middle of our interview) has 7 tokens of wisdom for cooks:

1. "Clean as you go."

2. "The last pinch of salt of squeeze of lemon can be the most important step."

3. "Anchovies!"

4. "A Vitamix blender will make your soups creamy with no added cream, make smoothies extra light, make breadcrumbs and dressings, and more..."

5. "Drink while you cook!"

6. "Around the time my son turned three and a half, we started having early family dinners all together and it quickly became one of the best parts of my life."

7. "Make it fun. It doesn't have to be complicated."
