My first thought when I saw Katie Holmes and Suri Cruise happily hopping down the street in New York City carrying hers-and-hers-Mommy-and-me Hermes shopping bags: Adopt me! My second thought: Does she have a director following her around at all times, staging the most perfect photo op moments? And my final thought was...
Isn't she a little young to be indulging in such luxury? She's already become Christian Louboutin's youngest client with a pair of custom baby shoes, got the same star treatment from Roger Vivier, and is known to be one of the best-dressed toddlers in town. So what will she have to work towards when she grows up? Even my most fashionable (and privileged) friends scrimped and saved for their first major handbag purchases, regularly scour sample sales for designer goods, and treasure their designer shoes by breaking them out only for the most important occasions. (Are you a bagaholic?)
Is it too much to have all of this stuff before you can even pronounce it? What age do you guys think is appropriate to start designer shopping your little heart out? And when did you score your first major purchase?
