A Racy Choice? Look Who's Directing "Fifty Shades of Grey"!

Sam Taylor-Johnson chosen as the director of the Sam Taylor-Johnson chosen as the director of the E L James made a big announcement this week. So far the details of the upcoming film adaptation of her uber popular book Fifty Shades of Grey have been far and few between, the British author leaked - via Twitter - the name of the director of the first installment.

"I'm delighted & thrilled to let you guys know that Sam Taylor-Johnson has agreed to direct the film of Fifty Shades of Grey," James Tweeted.

Who is Sam Taylor-Johnson? First Sam is short for Samantha, so the film will have a female spearheading the project, which totally makes sense and is a very logical decision. And she goes by the name Sam Taylor-Wood professionally. And while Fifty Shades of Grey is a scandalous book, the director Sam Taylor-Wood has become tabloid fodder herself.

While directing the film Nowhere Boy (based on John Lennon's childhood) Sam became involved with the star of the film, Aaron Johnson. Set romances aren't that unusual, but what made this one tabloid worthy was that Sam is 23 years older than Aaron. The two have been a couple since 2009 and have two children together. They wed in 2012.

It'll be interesting to see how Sam Taylor-Wood/Sam Taylor-Johnson takes on the project which will be challenging in terms of pleasing all the devoted Fifty Shades of Grey fans out there. Now we just have to see who they actually cast in the project since up until now it's just been rumors (Alex Pettyfer and Emma Watson are names that have been thrown around).

What do you think of the choice of Sam Taylor-Wood taking on the directing job?
