A washable spring wardrobe

If you have to send a shirt to the dry cleaner every time you wear it, that bargain find isn’t such a bargain, is it? Washability is now a requirement for all of my purchases but that does not mean committing to a collection of T-shirts and sweat pants. More fabrics than you realize, like silk and polyester blends, can be thrown into the machine, which means you’ll have more money on hand to buy more bargain finds! In this episode we’ve got three head-to-toe spring looks to give you a little shopping inspiration.

Whether you're a jeans girl or someone who loves to live in dresses come spring, here are three on-trend looks that won’t cost you every time you break them out:

Mullet tank dress + cardigan

If you haven’t tried this silhouette yet, take one into the dressing room and see how you feel. Celebrities are into it and it’s a nice variation on the sundress idea. Opt for a polyester blend, and pair it with a cardigan in a contrasting color. Pull the look together with a skinny belt and some chunky heels.

Skater skirt + long-sleeved T-shirt

Put one of these skirts on, and you’ll feel like you’re a little kid—in a good way. The look is flattering on pretty much any figure. I say go for a bright color or pattern with a solid, tight top. Heels always make your legs look long, but try a pair of lace-up flats like some patent-leather oxfords. (I had to be convinced myself.)

Skinny jeans + silky, patterned top

I love my colored jeans, but super-dark jeans are one of my year-round wardrobe staples. Denim with a bit of stretch will generally snap right back into shape after a wash. It's the perfect match for a bold silk-blend top and a statement-making necklace. Keep your footwear understated with another wardrobe staple: Classic black platform pumps.
